I heard a story recently from a VERY successful entrepreneur that I’d like to share with you… about Dr. Seuss.
My friend asked me what we could learn from “Green Eggs and Ham.” Really, nothing jumped out right away for my salon and spa business (as it usually is when things stare you in the face).
He pointed out that “Sam I am” made a DOZEN offers before succeeding in getting his friend to try out green eggs and ham. A DOZEN. He stayed positive and on track, not even acknowledging his “failures” until he accomplished is goal.
And for those of us who can consistently say the same thing about ourselves, we succeed.
As we should, look at what we have at stake. Our career, our livelihood, years and countless thousands of dollars (often hundreds) as well as our staff and most importantly, our dream of all that being an entrepreneur brings.
Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
…and that’s what I love about us, you and I. We don’t take “no” for an answer. We continue on again and again, learning more and more and more, trying new things… making it work.
Sure, we may get a bit discouraged now and again. Life will sometimes do what life does and throw us some challenges. But with consistent effort, we will come out on top.
Right now, this economy is a serious test for nearly all medspa and day spa owners and many salon owners as well.
So learn from Sam, continue on, have faith in your fellow owners online, and succeed!
“Who loves ya?”

Persistence is the key and a set of golf balls! I learned that from John LaVelle my first husband that died of a massive heart attack this month 19 years ago. He was the best businessman .I learned so much from him and use his knowledge to this day. I’m here 27 years in July, and it has been the hardest 2 years of my 27 year career. I can see the light clearly now, and I know I will continue to grow with God on my side and your help! Linda
LOVE IT! I think we’ve all found the 10,000 ways that WON’T work! Key is staying positive till you find the ONE that does work. It’s out there…. just keep working. Quitting IS NOT an option! Stay strong. Geri
