You’re NOT going to believe what we did these last few weeks, it’s been simply Amazing!
The Saturday before last, we went up to Denver (an hour away) to celebrate our boy’s birthday (he turned 7)… and since Zhenya realized her goal of skydiving this summer, he wanted to go too, so we took him Indoor Skydiving!
…that was just the start of it though. Grandma drove up from NM to celebrate so we got rooms at our favorite hotel in Denver, took all the kids swimming, out to a fancy lunch (and even fancier dinner), rode the tram downtown, went to the lego store (of course!), visited the art museum (King Tut) and created some lifetime memories.
As a Salon Spa Owner, it’s NICE to be able to do these kinds of things. We had such a great time we went up and spent the day in Denver again this past weekend (checking out the mountains this time).
How do we life our “dream life”?
…We’ve got our marketing systems in place, we have special promotional events on all the big money-making holidays, our business is lean and mean and we continue our education learning how to do things better and better. Why? So we can do what we got into business in the first place for…
…we can MAKE MORE while WORKING LESS.
This gives us the FREEDOM to do what we want with our time, which is spend it with the kids while they still are kids (what’s the point of working life away?).

Great story and pictures. I am sure everyone enjoys doing what they want and like on Saturdays and Sundays. I do
and I try to.
I live my life by design.
I write out my goals, dreams and desire then I schedule it in advanced, my 2011 professional and personal calander is done. Only exception is next fall’s school activities.
I plan my vacations, marketing, seminars self improvement each quarter. I do leave room for spontaneous things, however I like order( the accurate arrangement of things)
leave your self time for rest and creativity.
Hi there, I would love to be able to take Saturday’s off to spend with my family! (and have to money to enjoy it) I am a one woman band working from home with spray tanning, waxing and Creative acrylic nail care, in my second year at college doing hairdressing too, but looking to expand around mid 2011 once qualified in hair to open a salon going into partnership with a friend. I do have my (ever changing) marketing planner all done for 2011 and I am beginning to collect everyone’s contact details too, but how to get this elusive Saturday off???? xx
Honestly I have not been able to have saturdays off yet–3 years. I still am working in and on my biz. I am stiil trying to get out of working in the biz , but I have found that it is a struggle to find truly qualified therapists ( skin care , massage, laser technicians and the like) .
I have put a lot of systems into place ( compensation, automated email marketing / events/ specials/ newsletter and so forth ) but ahh the elusive saturdays off. I just look forward to having a day when I can feel comfortable leaving things to my staff without feeling that something might go wrong if I am not around or within reach somehow- by phone or otherwise.
I will keep trying to get there.
I think you have to decide what is important to you. Your staff will step up to the plate when needed. I take a Saturday when I want and trust things will go well – do we ever think someone will do it as well as us doing it ourselves?? Just go for it. Human nature makes us want what we don’t think we can have. Saturday once in a while is great – unless you have kids it’s not all that it is cracked up to be. I like having a weekday to get things done without the crowd.
